Amazing Maize

Tentative Dates:  September 19, 2015 - January 3, 2016

Maize explores the science of how maize has evolved over thousands of years to become one of our most significant crops, and why it continues to surprise us today. What is maize? Why is it important? How has it changed? Visitors will learn the answers to these questions, and also explore some of the newest discoveries in modern science. Come and learn about the genetic research that helps scientists to better explain the evolution of this crop and how that knowledge can improve everyday life, at both a local and global level. A walk-through maze will allow visitors to understand interesting information about popcorn, such as the history of popcorn, and why popcorn pops. The exhibition was developed by Purdue University Agriculture Exhibit Design Center, and the Museum of the Earth at the Paleontological Research Institution.
