AWS FOUNDATION SPECIAL ABILITIES DAYS

FREE TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WITH SPECIAL ABILITIES WITH PRE-REGISTRATION
Through the generous support of the AWS Foundation, Science Central hosts AWS Foundation Special Abilities Days, providing fun science education for members of the community with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
After speaking with our sponsor, the AWS Foundation, we have decided to reschedule the AWS Special Abilities Day scheduled for Saturday June 20, to Tuesday, June 30, 2020, due to the current Coronavirus concerns.
Instead of the traditional hands-on tabletops, we will be focusing on demonstrations and we will be providing them with small experiment kits to take home.
We will be open for two shifts, 9:00 am -11:00 am and 12:00 pm -2:00 pm. The hour between will be closed for cleaning.
Other days that are tentatively schedule are:
- August 15, 2020 tentatively
- September 22, 2020 tentatively
- November 14, 2020 tentatively
- December 8, 2020 tentatively
On Special Abilities Days, modifications are made to our exhibits and programs. These include:
- Lower ambient sound levels
- Increased light in areas that are usually dark
- Access to listening devices
- Less crowded environment
- Extra staff on hand
- Additional demonstrations with extra tactile stimulation
- Access to a private changing table
- Access to a quiet room
- Face Shields (limited quantities)
