Science Central recognizes that our Mission to be a regional resource that provides inspiring and fun hands-on science education for all people of all ages is as important as your health and safety.

As we begin making plans, with the goal of being able to reopen soon, Science Central is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for staff and our visitors, even as we navigate through this challenging time.

Upon reopening we would hope that your families and friends see us as a safe and engaging venue of informal science education. Let’s all use the best defense we have, knowledge. Let’s remember that the COVID-19 virus is still with us and just as concerning as before the state put into place a measured return to a ‘new’ normal. Join with us in fighting this international crisis.

We encourage our community to be aware of your behavior, be safe in your interactions and know what your choices are before engaging. Practice social distancing by putting space between yourself and others. Continue to practice healthy habits to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Emergency Medical Authorization (EMA) Form

An EMA form must be filled out for each registered student. This form is where you will provide emergency contact information as well as any medical issues and/or allergies that we should be aware of to provide the best experience for your student. This form will be kept on file for the entirety of the school year, but will not be able to be used for other programs (ex: Camps, Coding Club).

We prefer that you complete the online form and submit it electronically at least 7 days prior to your first registered program date. You will receive information on how to access the form in your confirmation email.

For the safety of the students, students will not be permitted to stay for the program if they do not have a completed EMA form turned in at check-in.

Day of Program

Check-In Procedures

Afternoon Science check-in will begin at 1:30 each month. Check-in takes place at the Admissions desk inside Science Central, so individuals dropping off their student(s) MUST COME INSIDE with their students. Every month at check-in, you will first show your barcoded ticket to a staff member at the front desk to scan. Then you will need to sign-in your student. During check-in, if you didn’t already complete it online, you will also turn in your completed EMA form to the person at the front desk. After your student is signed in, they will receive a wristband for the program and then a Science Central staff member will escort them to their classroom for the afternoon program.

Check-Out Procedures

Afternoon Science check-out will begin at approximately 3:15. Please allow extra time for check-out. Check-out for Afternoon Science is inside Science Central, so individuals picking up student(s) MUST COME INSIDE to retrieve their students. Only approved (listed on the EMA) individuals may sign-out students. Guardians picking up students will be asked to sign a sign-out sheet with a staff member before they are able to take their student(s).

Late Pick-Ups

If you are more than 15 minutes late to pick up your student, you will be charged $15 for every 5 minutes past pick-up time, based on our clock. If you are more than one hour late to pick-up your child, the Fort Wayne Police Department will be notified.
