FIRST® LEGO® League Qualifying Tournament

November 20, 2016

Science Central will host the 15th annual FIRST® LEGO® League Indiana Qualifying Tournament on Sunday, November 20, 2016.  The annual event encourages young students to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and will take place between 8:00 a.m.  and 4:00 p.m.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend the tournament between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.  Admission is $9 per person, ages 3 to adult. Children 2 and under are admitted free.

FIRST® LEGO® League is an international competition. Teams of up to 10 elementary and middle school students compete around the world.  Each team participates in the challenge by programming an autonomous NXT or EV3 LEGO robot to earn points on a playing field. Along the way, students will be challenged to develop solutions to problems they identify.  This two-part challenge is theme-based, and focuses on finding solutions for real-world problems through the use of science-related topics.
