School & Public Programs Manager



POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Entry-level management position; involvement with informal, hands-on, educational science center programs (physical, natural and applied); assist in the development, scheduling and presentation of all public and school programs in the building; audiences include schools, community centers, scout groups, day cares, families, adult events, etc.; programs include demonstrations, exhibit interpretation, tabletops, classes/labs, Science On a Sphere; responsible for the daily operations, scheduling and management of the programs; schedule, train and monitor part-time staff and volunteers.

REQUIRED SKILLS:  Be responsible and organized, time- and detail-oriented; have experience in program research, development and presentation; experience managing staff; comfort with and interest in science and education; exceptional public speaking abilities, comfortable working with audiences of all sizes/ ages/backgrounds; outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic; professional in attitude and appearance; do moderate lifting (approx. 40 lbs.)

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have college degree, science major preferred, science classes required; ability to develop complex staff and program schedules; experience in the informal science education field preferred; experience with and ability to manage part-time staff; comfortable with computers and Microsoft.

SCHEDULE:  Full-time, to include weekdays and weekends; schedule will include holidays, some evenings and early mornings; must be flexible                 

SALARY:  $23,660, full benefits
